The Army of Ardoberg-Holstein

The army of the Electorate consists of 11 regiments of Horse and 15 regiments of Foot. A British/Hanoverian Corps of Observation consisting of 3 regiments of Horse and 7 regiments of Foot can generally be found fighting by their side, and picking up the tab for the operation. All units are organized on the Charles Grant model.

  1. "All units are organized on the Charles Grant model.": the book that hooked me to the hobby -and specially to Lace Wars Imagi-Nations- some... well, better not to count the decades elapsed. But always a delight to see regiments following this model!

  2. Grant's Wargame was my first wargame book. I had been gaming solo using unpainted Airfix figures and had no idea anyone else wargamed. When I saw the photos in the book, especially Mollwitz, I was stunned.

  3. 15 regiments of Foot and 11 of Horse on the Grant model - over 1000 figures... Quite a sizeable army!

  4. The toys have been accumulating since the early 1970s. Most of the infantry are the Spencer Smith AWI range, most of the cavalry are the older Spencer Smith figures in the Charles Grant book. I also have an allied British/Hanoverian army about half the size of the Germans. My regular opponent, the self styled 'king' of San Maurice also has quite a pile of toys, but the *&#@% buys the really expensive figures and paints better than me.
